Update: ALERT ALERT LUCAS IS IN LONDON

Editor’s note: I wrote this article literally ten minutes before the France Football report dropped. Timing!

With Malcom and David Neres being the new Brazilian hotness with regards to Tottenham Hotspur’s January transfer business, we hadn’t heard a whole lot about Lucas Moura. As if on cue, here comes another report, this time from our good friend Lyall Thomas writing for Sky, who says that Lucas is interested in coming to the good part of north London.

Well, sort of. Here are the relevant parts of the Sky report.

Lucas Moura believes a switch from Paris Saint-Germain to Tottenham could be the right move for him in the January transfer window, Sky Sports News has been told.

...

Moura has been impressed with how Tottenham play and believes Mauricio Pochettino could be the right manager for him to progress his career.

That’s pretty much it. It’s the quintessential “Sky Sports understands...” article. There’s not a lot of THERE there, if you know what I mean.

So, look -- say what you want about Lyall, but he does have club connections and he’s got a perfectly decent (though by no means perfect) track record when it comes to Tottenham rumors. The idea that Lucas Moura wants to come to Spurs is pretty neat, and I can totally believe that he might want to resurrect his career post-PSG with a manager like Poch. Still, this sounds an awful lot like Lucas’ agent trying to get his client a good deal by circulating some interesting rumors in the media, and less a harbinger of a possible transfer deal.

If the choice is between Moura, Malcom, or Neres as to which young Brazilian will be joining Spurs, I guess I lean towards Malcom, but I certainly wouldn’t turn down Lucas if the price and wages are right. The problem is that beyond reports that suggest a general level of interest, there isn’t a lot to suggest Spurs are seriously interested in Moura. With a bunch of other clubs sniffing around, my bet is that he’ll land at a place like Napoli, Dortmund, or Sevilla while Spurs work on a summer signing.

UPDATE: LOL GUESS WHAT apparently Lucas is in London finalizing a permanent transfer to Tottenham Hotspur, according to France Football.

So, yeah, just ignore everything I just typed above this. And NOBODY MOVE.
