Things have moved very quickly since news broke that Tottenham Hotspur is close to a deal with Paris St. Germain to bring winger Lucas Moura to London. Just a rumor on Thursday, reports emerged by evening that Lucas was not only interested in leaving the French champions for Tottenham, but that he was in London meeting with Spurs officials in an attempt to hammer out a deal.
According to the Telegraph, Tottenham showed Lucas around the Hotspur Way training center on Thursday and that the player was very impressed with Pochettino’s “sales pitch” about playing for the club. The positivity (or in Get French Football’s case, the double-negativity) doesn’t stop there: Friday’s edition of L’Equipe (which is currently only in the print edition) apparently states confidence that a deal can be reached before the close of the transfer window in five days.
Essentially, L'Équipe believe that Tottenham will sign Lucas Moura this month. If talks break down, Arsenal continue to monitor the situation, but the PSG winger is only a back up option for the Gunners.

Lucas has been shoved out the door by manager Unai Emery, who has a shiny new Neymar and Kylian Mbappe to play with, but Lucas scored 18 goals for PSG last season and is only 25. Some reports are stating that there’s a hold-up in the transfer fee, with Spurs offering €25m and PSG demanding €30m, but there appears to be confidence that a deal can be reached. Lucas’ wages are reportedly not an issue.
It seems like we’re a ways away from finalizing anything, but I think it’s safe to say that, contrary to my earlier thoughts, there certainly is a whole heck of a lot of THERE there. In the meantime, please continue to refrain from moving.
