There’s more Tottenham transfer news, but again it’s with the youngsters. A report in the Basildon Canvey Southend Echo says that 20-year old Tottenham academy graduate and U23 squad striker Shayon Harrison is set to head out on loan to Southend United until the end of the season.

When it comes to teams in the lower leagues of English football, I tend to put a lot of stock in local and regional reporting. So when a regional paper like the Echo says that Shayon is heading out on loan to a club in their local beat, I tend to believe them.

Shayon is a promising striker who has been playing mostly in the Premier League 2 this season, scoring four goals thus far. We ranked him at #7 on our summer list of Tottenham Hotspur youth prospects. I don’t know how realistic his prospects are of cracking through to the first team, but he probably is at the stage where he needs minutes. Heading out to League 1 to get beat up a bit and play regularly doesn’t seem like a bad thing at this point.

This is the second young Spurs player in two seasons to head on loan to the Shrimpers; Luke Amos spent the second half of the 2016-17 season there as well, and it appears the two clubs have a good relationship.

Likely, this will be announced tomorrow amidst the rest of the deadline day madness.
