Harry Kane shuts down Real Madrid switch rumors with three-word response

The Kane-to-Madrid media rumors just won’t die, but Harry’s doing his best to kill them.

It’s like a horror movie villain, or an undead creature — the continued links that suggest Harry Kane is absolutely, 100%, certainly maybe kind of considering leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Real Madrid just won’t go away. It doesn’t matter that Harry Kane has said repeatedly that he wants to stay at Tottenham for his whole career (if the club matches his own ambitions), or that he has repeatedly denied any interest in leaving north London for Spain. People (by which I mean the Spanish football media) just won’t let it die.

So when MARCA, which is always in the tank for Real, asked Kane after England’s 3-2 Nations League win over Spain whether he would consider leaving Spurs for Madrid for the millionth time, Kane had an answer ready.

“Sorry, not today.”

Long, detailed answers aren’t working, and neither are florid descriptions about what a great team Madrid are and how anyone would love to play there but but but.

I choose to believe that Kane was instead taking inspiration from Dancing Master Syrio Forel from the first season of Game of Thrones. Short, dramatic, devastatingly effective, and awesome. We love you, Harry.
