More bad news, but at least it’s not news that is actively detrimental to Tottenham’s first team. According to @Lilywhite_rose on Twitter, Spurs academy graduate Luke Amos is out for the rest of the season after sustaining a knee injury.

Knee ligament damage and will be out for the entire season. We send our best wishes to Luke. pic.twitter.com/RUgh633dzs
If there was a “break-out star” after Tottenham’s preseason, it was probably Amos. Thanks to an injury to Victor Wanyama, Luke got significant minutes in the International Champions Cup and more than held his own. He impressed Mauricio Pochettino and the Spurs coaching staff enough to earn a first team number, and even made his first team debut with a two minute cameo against Newcastle in the opening match of the season.
Amos was never going to be a key contributor for Spurs this season, though it was possible he could’ve gotten some minutes in the early rounds of the cups. It’s a major setback for Luke, and I hope he’s able to return sooner than anticipated, and stronger.
