For those of you who were wondering if we’d get an update on the Danny Rose injury situation, well we did — sort of. The Independent is reporting that Rose is one of three England players along with Danny Welbeck and Alex McCarthy who were held out of training today as a precaution ahead of this week’s Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain.
Danny, you might recall, was subbed off late during Spurs’ 1-0 win over Cardiff after picking up a knock. With Serge Aurier already injured, losing Danny be yet another injury blow for a Spurs side already reeling. Spurs are still without Aurier, Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele, Dele Alli, and Christian Eriksen.
However, if you’re looking for perhaps a silver lining in this cloud, Danny has stated that he doesn’t think that the injury is that bad.
“I’ve just got a sore groin. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious. I’ll meet up and England will assess it.”
England have two Nations League matches coming up during the international break — at Croatia on Friday in a match that will be played behind closed doors, and at Spain the following Monday. The Croatia match will be played in an empty stadium as the Croatian federation serves the second of a two match ban implemented by UEFA after a swastika was found marked on the field in a Euro 2016 qualifier vs. Italy.
