Last week we reported that Tottenham Hotspur Ladies had two players nominated for the October FA Women’s Championship Player of the Month award — forward Rianna Dean and midfield/forward Sarah Wiltshire. Today, the award was announced... and it goes to Dean!

Rianna has been a revelation for Spurs in the FAWC this season. Despite being blanked in Spurs’ last match — a 4-1 loss at Manchester United — she has scored eight goals in seven matches, putting her tied for the league lead with United striker Jessica Sigsworth. Signed this summer from Millwall Lionesses, she’s added a punch to Spurs’ attack and has been the difference between a mid-table finish last season and leading the league and pushing for promotion this year.
It’s the first time a Spurs player has won the award this season. Tottenham manager Karen Hills previously picked up the Manager of the Month award for September.
