Tottenham Hotspur Ladies dropped their first match of the season on Sunday, falling 4-1 at Manchester United Women. That in no way diminishes the incredible start to the year they’ve had however, and two of their players are now being recognized by the FA Women’s Championship with nominations for the FAWC Player of the Month for October.
Spurs midfielder Sarah Wiltshire and striker Rianna Dean were included as two of the four nominees for the award, which fans can vote on via Twitter.

Dean went into Sunday’s match at United as the FAWC scoring leader with eight goals in seven matches, and left the match still tied for that honor with United’s Jessica Sigsworth, who scored a brace in that match. Wiltshire, Dean’s strike partner, has been one of Spurs’ most important players. She has three goals in the league this season and was recently called up to the Wales international training camp for her performances with Spurs this season. It’s the second consecutive month that Wiltshire has been nominated for the award.
Nominees for the Player of the Month are determined by a panel of journalists from the Football Writers Association. The winner is determined by a combination of social media voting and votes from the FWA members.
