Today, UEFA released its “short list” of the 50 players nominated for its 2018 Team of the Year, and two Tottenham Hotspur players have made the cut! Club captain and 2018 World Cup winner Hugo Lloris was nominated along with Spurs vice captain Harry Kane.

The two Tottenham nominees are a real feather in the cap of both players, and it means that Spurs have more nominees in the side than Manchester United, who had only Paul Pogba make the shortlist. I’ll give you one guess as to how many Arsenal had nominated.

But before we get too high up on our horses, it pales in comparison to Liverpool, who have six nominees (Alisson, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, James Milner, Virgil Van Dijk, Roberto Firmino), while Manchester City have three (David Silva, John Stones, Kevin De Bruyne). To nobody’s surprise, Real Madrid have the most with nine players, while Barcelona have seven.

You can vote for who you think should be on the final UEFA Team of the year online.
