More good news! Just hours before the second North London Derby of the season, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has said Spurs’ leading striker might miss today’s League Cup clash at the Emirates with a virus.
Speaking today at a press conference ahead of the match, Pochettino said that Kane has been dealing with a cold and hasn’t been training outside.
“We need to assess him because he had a cold this morning and he didn’t go outside to train. Big decision.
”If we consider that he can cover 90 minutes, maybe he can play. If not maybe he will be on the bench. And if nothing happens in the afternoon, because to protect him he didn’t train outside. He was doing something in the gym.”
If Kane doesn’t start it leads to some interesting possibilities for Pochettino. This season Son Heung-Min has been preferred as a striker in Kane’s absence, but Fernando Llorente, Lucas Moura, or even Erik Lamela could be at the tip of the spear if Kane can’t go.
Pochettino also said that Juan Foyth is in contention to play today, but that Davinson Sanchez probably won’t be back until this weekend’s match at Everton.
