Team news is out for Tottenham Hotspur’s fifth round FA Cup match against Rochdale, and Spurs might be without their star striker. The club announced that Harry Kane could miss the match at Spotland Stadium in Rochdale after picking up a knock in Spurs’ 2-2 Champions League draw at Juventus on Tuesday.

“Harry twisted his ankle and received some knocks. We need to assess on Saturday if he is fit. Maybe he will have the chance to start, but if he is not 100 per cent, he may be on the bench.

“If we decide he is not fit enough even to play half-an-hour or 20 minutes then he may stay in London with other players. We need to decide whether he has a chance for Sunday.”

If anyone deserves a rest in a FA Cup match against a League 1 opponent, it’s Kane. He’s been mammoth in Spurs’ last stretch of games, playing every minute in matches against Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Juventus, and scoring three goals. If he’s rested (and let’s face it, it’s Rochdale, we can probably rest him), Fernando Llorente or Son Heung-Min are the most obvious candidates to come in.

But there’s some good news as well — Pochettino said in a pre-match press conference that January signing Lucas Moura will likely make his first start in a Tottenham shirt.

“We’re thinking of maybe giving him the possibility to start the game. We’re thinking, it’s in our head. He’s working very hard, we’re pushing him. We need to assess him tomorrow and see what we can do. But we are so happy with him and the way that he is working. Maybe he has the possibility to play.”

Lucas made his Spurs debut in a cameo against Juventus, making several speedy-dribbly plays in a central midfield role, and intriguing a lot of fans with his technical ability. Spurs fans will be excited to see what he can do in Pochettino’s tactical system in a full match.
