Hi, Hoddlers!
I know yesterday’s ramble was a bit of a departure for me, since it was about nice things, but I have not gotten too soft. I have deemed today Bad Trailer Tuesday, as if I am the mayor of some medium sized American town!
Ramble of the Day
As I mentioned yesterday, I went to see Black Panther over the weekend, and it was pretty awesome. That’s not what I am going to talk about, though.
As is customary before films, trailers for upcoming attractions. Among others, the trailer for The Hurricane Heist was one of them. Here it is, in all its glory.
What a magical trailer! Let’s break it down.
For the first minute and change, it appears to be a boring and low quality film. The concept and title may be silly, but it appeared there was nothing remarkable about this film. Then the trailer truly got started.
Scorpions’ “Rock You Like a Hurricane” made the mandatory appearance. After all, it is a film about a hurricane (and a heist during it). The experience of hearing it from the speakers of a movie theater is so special. The lyrics are more epic, and the impact is so hilarious, I was lucky not to laugh out loud for the rest of the theater to hear. I know this will be hard to arrange, but I highly recommend watching this trailer in a movie theater.
(Aside: The Wikipedia page for “Rock You Like a Hurricane” has a section about the song’s use in pop culture, but does not include Harry Kane despite there being a part dedicated to sports. Someone should change that.)
Then, just as it seems like the trailer is over, the people behind this trailer decided they needed to make things clear for you. “$600 MILLION STOLEN AT 600 MILES PER HOUR” makes its way across the screen in fragments, as if you could not figure it out during the almost two minutes beforehand, or even in the title of the film itself.
I do not know if I will use my MoviePass for it, but I do know that it’s coming out just in time for my older sister’s birthday!
tl;dr: Watch the trailer. It is ridiculous (and funny).
