There’s been a lot of digital ink spilled over yesterday’s draw between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool at Anfield, specifically regarding the two penalties called by Jon Moss in Spurs’ favor. We’ve made our position on the incidents pretty clear and there isn’t really any reason to go further into it.
But what’s been overlooked in the controversy is the sheer, unabashed glory of Victor Wanyama’s blast from the top of the box that equalized for Tottenham in the 80th minute. That was a stunning goal that looked like it was still accelerating when it hit the back of the net. It deserves more celebration.
Thankfully, we have r/coys user EpicallyTossed, who set that goal to Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” and brightened my morning significantly.
This is the most appropriate use of an internet meme in football history. I’ll be putting it on loop for the next hour or so.
