Tottenham Hotspur released team news ahead of Saturday’s North London Derby at Wembley Stadium, and for the first time all season, Tottenham Hotspur have their full squad available for selection!
This is absolutely fantastic news. While all players have been in training for a little while now, there’s always been a few players that the club has noted are still working on match fitness, or who had just started doing “outdoor work,” or the like. No more! This means Mauricio Pochettino has his full squad to choose from as Spurs host Arsenal.
So what does that mean? Well, probably it means we’ll see “Janby Alderweirtonghen” for the first time since November as Toby Alderweireld comes back into the starting lineup, and if Poch is feeling racy and wants to revert to the back three we might even see “Javinby Vertalderweirchez.” Lucas Moura is presumably also in contention, though I would hazard a guess that we probably won’t see him make his first start in such a highly emotionally-charged match.
Spurs rotated heavily in yesterday’s 2-0 FA Cup replay win over Newport County, and that implies that we’re likely to see some combination of Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama, Mousa Dembele, Dele Alli, Son Heung-Min, and Christian Eriksen behind Harry Kane. Kieran Trippier and Ben Davies are also likely to start at fullback. However, as we’ve seen, Poch occasionally likes to throw a curve ball in the big games. The good news is that if he wants to make an adjustment he finally has a full squad to choose from.
For Arsenal, Santi Cazorla remains out with an injury, and it also appears that Petr Cech could also miss the game after being replaced by David Ospina during the Gunners’ win over Everton. Arsenal will face late fitness tests on Nacho Monreal and Danny Welbeck.
