Locusts! Hail of frogs! Water turning into blood! Pep Guardiola has not been nominated for the Barclay’s Premier League Manger of the Month for February! But Mauricio Pochettino has, yet again. Maybe this time he can actually win it.
Pochettino led Spurs to a 2-1-0 record during the month of February, with wins over Arsenal and Crystal Palace, and a controversial (but fair) draw with Liverpool. He’s one of five managers shortlisted for the monthly award, along with Watford’s Javi Garcia (2-0-1), Brighton’s Chris Hughton (2-1-0), Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp (2-1-0), and the manager of Tottenham’s weekend opponent, Huddersfield’s David Wagner (2-0-1).
Meanwhile, midfielder Mousa Dembele is finally seeing the peak of the richly deserved love-fest he’s been receiving in the media as he has been nominated for the EA SPORTS Premier League Player of the Month for February. The Premier League website notes that he had a passing percentage of 92% in February with 202 passes, but failed to mention that he should win the award because he’s the GOAT and makes grown-ass midfielders cry.
The other, lesser contenders for the award include Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, Brighton’s Pascal Gross, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, and Stoke’s Xherdan Shaqiri.
As always, the award is partially based on a fan vote, and you can go mash the Pochettino & Moose buttons at your convenience. Be like Liverpool fans: vote early, and vote often.
