Alert! We have movement in the transfer window! I repeat, we have movement in the transfer window!

According to Sky Sports News, Tottenham Hotspur have put in a bid for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish, and it being Daniel Levy, it’s a delicious underbid.

Considering Grealish was rated at £40m before Villa’s financial implosion, £15m is the most Daniel Levy bid ever, and I kind of love it. It’s way, WAY less than what Villa wants, and even what Grealish should probably go for in this market, which is why I’m pretty sure that this isn’t going to be the amount that he is sold for.

However, it’s a nice opening bid. Villa are over a barrel and need funds pretty drastically. Villa knows this, as does Levy. Usually Levy would try and load up the deal with a bunch of performance-based escalators, but Villa need hard cash and need it now, so I can see the final price creeping upwards.

Even so, £15m is not a lot of money for a 22-year old player who did very well in the Championship last season. This is also confirmation that Spurs are very much interested in adding Grealish to their midfield stable. Let’s wrap it up quickly!
