Tottenham Hotspur may not have made an incoming signing yet, but it looks like they’re close to locking down their biggest star for the foreseeable future. According to a short article in today’s print edition of the Evening Standard, Harry Kane is close to accepting a new contract extension that will improve his wages. However, the official announcement might not be made until after the World Cup.
The tweet is from Tom Collomosse, but the writing is from Dan Kilpatrick.

This is great news, even if it isn’t quite, well, news yet. Kane is one of several Tottenham players who are expected to sign new and improved contracts this summer, a list that includes Christian Eriksen, Son Heung-Min, Dele Alli, Hugo Lloris, and Eric Dier. The new deals are expected to smash Spurs’ previous wage ceiling, and it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if Kane ends up being Tottenham’s top wage earner when all is said and done.
If we’re lucky maybe we’ll get confirmation sooner rather than later, but either way, things are happening, and that’s good.
UPDATE: ITS OFFICIAL! Harry Kane’s new contract is good through 2024. The announcement video was made through the new stadium’s big screen which is pretty dang awesome.

According to Dan Killy-P, Kane’s new deal will effectively “double his wages,” and I can’t think of anyone who deserves it more. Congratulations, Harry! Now go knock balls into nets in Russia, please.
