It sure looked like Nice striker Alassane Plea was heading to Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach last week. Then it looked like Tottenham Hotspur were considering a GAZUMPING.
... Nope, he’s still heading to Gladbach.

Spurs reportedly had real interest in the 25 year old striker who scored 16 goals in Ligue 1 last season, primarily as a backup plan in the event that they weren’t able to sign Anthony Martial from Manchester United. There were reports that Plea was close to leaving for the Bundesliga, but Spurs were given fresh hope after Newcastle United tried to lowball a £20m bid for his services, potentially leaving an opening.
But no. It seems either Plea had his heart set on German football after all, or perhaps Spurs decided to focus their attentions elsewhere.
Fans don’t seem too disappointed to have missed him, but it’s another small bit of bad news for Spurs, who have yet to make a signing this summer. The transfer window slams shut on August 9.
