Harry Kane nominated for 2018 The Best FIFA Player of the Year

Is this the year that someone not named “Lionel” or “Cristiano” wins the award?

Hello, sports friends, it’s news o’clock! Today FIFA announced the shortlist for The Best FIFA Player of the Year for 2018, and Harry Kane made the cut as one of the ten finalists for this year’s award.

The Best Awards are what replaced the ballon d’or after the latter reverted back to France Football in 2015. This is the second consecutive year that Kane has made the “shortlist,” though last year’s shortlist was considerably longer than this year’s, with 24 nominees. Kane ended up finishing dead last in voting last season, with 0.33% of the vote.

This year’s shortlist is smaller, and hence a much more prestigious honor to be nominated. And he should’ve been nominated, as he was fantastic for both club and country this year, scoring 43 goals in all club competitions, not including his six goals in this summer’s World Cup.

Might this be the year that someone other than Cristiano Ronado or Lionel Messi wins the FIFAaahahahahahahahaha sorry no of course it’s going to be one of them.

Alas, Kane’s manager Mauricio Pochettino could not receive a second straight nomination for The Best FIFA Manager of the Year this time around. He was omitted from the ten-person shortlist.
