As the World Cup rages on in Russia, teams in England are preparing for a new Premier League season that is just over a month away.
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with quite a few players so far in this summer transfer window, but, unsurprisingly, they are still yet to make any additions to their squad.
Nice’s Alassane Pléa is one name that has come up in the rumors, but it looks like he is actually off to the Bundesliga. According to Kicker, Plea is about to join Borussia Monchengladbach.
Borussia Monchengladbach have agreed a contract with Alassane Plea and are "very close" to agreeing a fee with OGC Nice. https://t.co/wCNkPevdk4

Kicker is basically the gold standard for reporting on German football, so it’s highly likely that this deal will go through.
This may have been a case of Nice using Spurs’ name in an attempt to get a higher transfer fee from Gladbach. And it looks like that might have worked!
Pléa is a solid player, but at 25-years-old he is a bit older than the typical Mauricio Pochettino purchase from abroad. He contributed 16 goals and 5 assists in Ligue 1 last season, but missed significant time in 2017 after having knee surgery.
It was odd to see him linked to Tottenham while also being linked to clubs like Newcastle and West Ham. Spurs might be interested in signing a winger, but Pléa never really seemed to be the guy.
This is the time of the year when Spurs fans need to show patience. The new signings are coming. It’s still early in this transfer window, especially for Daniel Levy. There is plenty of cash available ahead of the first season in the new stadium, but don’t be surprised if most of that money isn’t spent until late July or August.
