Today’s Song of the Day is actually more like a Concert of the Day, but it’s totally worth it. This is another band that I discovered thanks to my colleagues in the Cartilage Free Captain Slack channel. Khruangbin is a trio of Texas-based musicians that bonded over their love of Thai funk and Middle Eastern/Latin American rhythms. The result is this trippy, chill blend of improvisational, genre-bending instrumental music that is as far as I’m concerned perfect cocktail party music.
“Khruangbin” is the Thai word for “airplane” and they certainly have a continental vibe. This video is a full concert from Pitchfork, featuring projected visuals from Drippy Eye Projections.
