Cameron Carter-Vickers completes season-long loan to Swansea

Cam’s set for another season of first team action in the Championship

It’s official! 20-year old English-American center back Cameron Carter-Vickers is heading to Wales on loan. Both Swansea City and Spurs announced that the Tottenham academy product and center back is heading to the Swans for the whole season, effective immediately.

We’ve said it before but this is a good loan for CCV. Swansea, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, were picked over by vultures after they dropped and were down to only two senior CBs in the squad. Cam might not waltz into the starting XI with the Swans, but he’s definitely going to be given a chance to get some major minutes.

At Spurs, he’s at best the fifth CB, and only if he’s jumped ahead of Juan Foyth. At Swansea, he’ll get another season of regular match day experience in a tough, physical league, which is invaluable for a young center back. This is also coming off of last season’s loan to Sheffield United and Ipswich, where he did well.

It’s also probably a good thing for his international career — he’s getting minutes with USA under Dave Sarachan, but he’s needed more first team action to secure a place in USA’s regular lineup. Now, it looks like he’ll get it.

Swansea may be out of the Premier League, but Spurs fans now have a good reason to keep following them. Let’s hope Carter-Vickers crushes it there this season.
