Another Tottenham Hotspur academy product is heading out on loan for the season. Ninteen year old forward Samuel Shashoua is heading to on his first loan to Atletico Baleares, as announced by Tottenham’s official social media accounts.

No, I haven’t heard of Atletico Baleares either, but I’m pretty sure it isn’t a club founded by Gareth Bale. The club represents the autonomous region of the Balearic Islands off the eastern coast of Spain and they play in the Segunda Division B, the third tier of Spanish football. Last season they finished fourth in their Division B group.

I’m all for loans for promising young academy graduates, and Shashoua certainly counts as one. He’s been on our radar since he was 16. A versatile forward, Shash is generally deployed on the right wing but can play anywhere across the forward attacking band. He’s known as a skillful player with abundant talent but apart from making the bench vs. Leicester City last season he hasn’t really made a splash with the first team.

He’s at the point where he needs first team minutes in order to improve. I’m surprised, however, that he’s heading out to a foreign club in the third division. Hopefully he can crush it, improve a ton, and make a claim for a better loan in the future. Good luck, Sash!
