Lucas Moura has had a glittering start to the Premier League season for Tottenham Hotspur, and he’s being rewarded for his efforts. The Premier League has nominated the Brazilian forward as one of seven players on the shortlist for the EA SPORTS Premier League Player of the Month for August.

Lucas will contend with Watford’s Lucas Pererya (whom he will face this Sunday), Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso, Liverpool’s Sadio Mane and Virgil Van Dijk, Manchester City’s Benjamin Mendy, and Cardiff keeper Neil Etheridge.
Lucas, Pererya, and Mane have each scored three goals as they have led their respective teams to undefeated starts in their opening three matches. Etheridge is on this list for making two penalty saves for Cardiff in the opening three games, Marcos Alonso and Benjamin Mendy have been threats as attacking fullbacks for Chelsea and City, while Van Dijk has helped keep Liverpool’s defense perfect this season.
Lucas also has TWO goals nominated for the Carling Goal of the Month — his sublime curling effort against Fulham, and his second goal against Manchester United. That might be bad news for Lucas as he’ll probably split the Tottenham vote. (You can vote for your favorite here.)
Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino has again been nominated for the Manager of the Month award, along with Watford’s Javi Gracia, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp, and Chelsea’s Maurizio Sarri. All four managers have lead their clubs to perfect records through three matches.
As always, a small portion of the final tally is based on fan voting online; you can mash the buttons below Lucas and Pochettino’s pictures at the Premier League website for the next few days. The awards will be released early next week.
