All right, NOW we’ve got ourselves a proper end of the transfer window, complete with crazy out-of-nowhere rumors! Reports out of Norway are suggesting that Tottenham have an interest in 20-year old Norwegian defensive midfielder Sander Berge.
Heard of him? You liar. Berge plays for Belgian club Genk, and Norwegian paper Dagbladet says his agent is currently in London trying to find a Premier League club in the waning days of the window. Arsenal and Tottenham had both been tracking him in the past, I guess, and both are said to have “concrete interest” in him. He’s also apparently wanted by Sevilla.
He missed the entire second half of the Juliper League season last year with an injury, but he’s back now and has started both of Genk’s opening two league matches. He’s a full Norway international with nine caps.
Oh, did I mention that he’s 6’5”, shrugs off defenders, and is built like a friggin’ tank? This kid is an absolute unit. His nickname should be “The Barge.” Here’s his YouTube video.
Sky Sports reports that Mauricio Pochettino is in awe at the size of this lad, probably.
Is he #actually any good? Hell if I know. How much would he cost? No idea. Are Spurs really interested in him? No clue! Am I writing this because Tottenham desperately need defensive midfield reinforcements, it’s the end of the transfer window, and we all need something to think about that won’t send us spiraling into a into a pit of ennui? YEP!
Based on that video, his StatsBomb radar, and the fact that we still haven’t signed anyone, I’m all in on Sander “The Barge” Berge. Sign him up, Levy! Can he play against Newcastle?
