A couple of days ago I threw up a poll that asked Cartilage Free Captain readers to predict the Premier League table for 2018-19, and boy howdy did you deliver! Over 900 people responded to the survey, which gives us a pretty good indication of what you think.
Of course, this poll was taken with the knowledge and understanding that the transfer window isn’t yet closed, and that can sometimes have a huge impact on a club’s overall performance. However, I’d like to think that with a large sample size that can be evened out.
So, without further ado, here’s the Cartilage Free Captain 2018-19 Premier League predictions.
Carty Free predicts the 2018-19 Premier League

Once again, the league is Manchester City’s to lose.
The vast majority of Carty Free readers picked Manchester City to win the league again for the second consecutive year. It’s not hard to understand why. After they rolled the league last season, they only appear to have gotten better. Meanwhile, clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, and (yes) Tottenham appear to have either taken a step back or have not improved. The only club that people think could mount a strong title challenge is...
Liverpool is the most likely to make a title challenge.
Liverpool’s offseason transfer window has been scarily effective. They have addressed their most pressing areas of need, and have added spine to their midfield as well. I, frankly, liked them a lot better when they were bad at transfers, but they should be extremely fun to watch.
Yes, we are a Tottenham Hotspur blog.
The vast majority of voters — 84% of all survey respondents — chose Spurs to finish in the top four and secure Champions League qualification for the fourth consecutive year. That’s a reflection that, even with no signings (yet!), Spurs have a pretty fantastic squad overall. However, to the three of you who picked Spurs to finish dead last, you’re the real heroes. True Spurs fans, every one of you.
You tapped Cardiff, Huddersfield, and Watford for relegation.
Interesting! Cardiff was the overwhelming favorite to go down, which makes sense since they have done little to improve themselves in this offseason compared to fellow promoters Wolverhampton and Fulham. Most of you don’t think the Terriers can complete their plucky escape from the drop this time around, either, and must think Watford selling Richarlison to Everton is a bigger deal than I do. (I have Southampton going down)
Nobody has the foggiest idea what to do with Bournemouth.
Seriously, look at that bar graph. It looks like similar numbers of people ranked them anywhere from ninth to 16th. That they landed at 10th only because we seem to have attracted some Bournemouth fans to the poll that ranked the Cherries 2nd for some reason. Honestly, I’m pretty sure nobody has a clue of what will happen to the Cherries this season.
Arsenal are still hilarious.
That’s about all I need to say about that.
