More good transfer window news, this time out of the Croatian media! Online outlet Sportske novotsti is reporting now that Tottenham proposed a bid of €40m for Inter Milan midfielder and Croatian World Cup star Marcelo Brozovic... only to have that approach rejected by the Serie A club.
The article isn’t clear if Spurs actually made the bid or if they were simply sounding it out with Inter officials, but either way it was rebuffed. Brozovic apparently has a €50m release clause in his contract, but Sportske novotsti reports that Spurs never followed up on their initial inquiry, so it looks like Brozovic is set to stay at Inter for the time being. The report also says that Brozovic wants to leave, but Inter won’t accept a bid lower than his release clause.
I don’t have strong takes on Brozovic — he’s a central midfielder, which is good, and people who I know who watch a lot more Serie A than I do are split on whether he’d be a good fit for Spurs. What I do know is that we’re now inside 24 hours in this transfer window and there’s been precious little good news to talk about.
