Let’s play a fun game! Tottenham Hotspur are on their way to Italy to prepare for tomorrow’s Champions League group stage opener against Inter Milan at the San Siro.
As they often do, Spurs’ social media team put together a video collage of the players and coaching staff walking down the tarmac to the plane at the airport. That’s good, because it gives us a pretty good sense of who Spurs are taking along to Milan.

We already know most of the players whom Spurs are bringing because they’ve been released on Spurs’ “A-list.” However, it’s sometimes difficult to tell who’s who on these videos. Here’s a list of everyone I recognize, in order of their appearance.
- Victor Wanyama
- Luke Amos
- Lucas Moura
- Harry Kane
- Danny Rose
- Christian Eriksen
- Harry Winks
- Ben Davies
- Son Heung-Min
- Fernando Llorente
- Eric Dier
- Oliver Skipp
- Alfie Whiteman
- Kyle Walker Peters
- Jan Vertonghen
- Mousa Dembele
- Michel Vorm
- Erik Lamela
- Paulo Gazzaniga
- Davinson Sanchez
That’s most of the first team. However, there were a few notable absences from the video, including:
- Toby Alderweireld
- Hugo Lloris
- Kieran Trippier
- Dele Alli
- Serge Aurier
- Moussa Sissoko
A few of these we know about. Hugo, of course, is set to miss the next few weeks as he recovers from a thigh injury. Alfie Whiteman is on the plane though, which means that he will be filling in as the club’s emergency third keeper. Sissoko has also reportedly been injured lately, so it’s not surprising to see him Dele missed the Liverpool match, and his absence could suggest that he’s not ready to go yet in the Champions League, which is another big loss for Spurs.
The absence of Toby Alderweireld, Serge Aurier, and Kieran Trippier are probably not grounds for concern — they just might have been late getting out to the tarmac. And, Dele might be in that category too! However, Spurs’ social media team isn’t dumb. If Dele was there, they’d probably have made sure that they got a shot of him walking towards the plane.
Luke Amos and Oliver Skipp were the other two “List B” players to make the plane to Milan, which is neat. However, if we are in a position of having to play either of them in a Champions League match as anything other than as human victory cigars, we’re in pretty deep trouble.
