There’s at least one thing we’re all good at.

Hello, everyone!

I watched National Treasure last night. It was just as good/bad as I remembered.

Ramble of the Day

I was eating dinner with my older sister last night (while National Treasure was playing), and we were talking about podcasts. I like to joke that everyone thinks they should get a podcast, which is obviously untrue because everyone (including Kelly Clarkson) thinks they should have a talk show. I’m kidding, but there may be potential for a conversation about whether or not podcasts have become the new talk shows or if people that have wanted/still want talk shows are even the same people that have wanted/still want podcasts. That’s not what today’s ramble is about, though.

I will take a tiny bit of inspiration from that second thought, that people that have podcasts are different from people with talk shows, and tell you about a thought I had. While many people have podcasts and talk shows, the world cannot really be broken down into people who are best suited for podcasts and people that are best suited for talk shows. There are plenty of people that are probably better suited for other platforms; in fact, I’d argue that there might just be a platform for everyone.

Some, for example, might be best on a platform like Twitter. Maybe they’re good at cracking very specific internet jokes, or writing strong tweet threads. Others are probably best on Instagram, considering their strongest expressions come through picture and video. Then there are those who might good at vlogging, and others who are good at straight blogging. Maybe someone is best in a comments section, and someone else is best in a press release. (This is not to disrespect people who write press releases.) You never really do know!

You could think about yourself; maybe I didn’t even list the platform that suits the way you express yourself best. What is a little bit more fun, though, is wondering what platform suits the people in your life that you don’t associate with any particular platform.

Again, I go back to how I was joking with my sister that everyone has a podcast nowadays, and that plenty of people are actually suited for it. For whatever reason, our dad popped into my head, and he is certainly not suited for a podcast. That’s just not how he communicates or how conversations with him go, and I could not imagine a man who only sends emails and text messages doing any of the other things. I asked my sister: “What format might Dad actually be best suited for?” She thought of a TED Talk, and I agreed. He could give a pretty good lecture on a topic of his choosing. There’s another platform for you!

So what are you supposed to do with this information? I don’t know. I’m just rambling.

tl;dr: As they say, there is something for everyone, even platforms of expression.
