Some sad news broke as Tottenham Hotspur were in the middle of their match against Brighton & Hove Albion today. One of the most famous Tottenham fans and musicians, Chas Hodges, one half of the musical duo Chas & Dave, passed away from organ failure after a battle with cancer. He was 74.
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our very own Chas Hodges. Despite receiving successful treatment for oesophageal cancer recently, Chas suffered organ failure and passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of this morning. pic.twitter.com/bwxqfHUjUg

There is no eulogy I can provide that could possibly do justice to Chas. I’m an American. I came to Spurs fandom well after Chas & Dave’s heyday of the 1980s. I only know about them due to their longtime Spurs fandom, their connection to Tottenham Hotspur, and of course iconic songs such as “Ossie’s Dream,” “Hot Shot Tottenham,” and of course, “Glory, Glory Tottenham Hotspur.” Such was their status that even to this clueless plastic septic fan, Chas & Dave still provide the soundtrack to my Spurs fandom and for many, many other Tottenham Hotspur fans.
Support poured out in memory of Chas on social media today. I can’t add anything to that other than to say that he was an excellent musician, an important part of the fabric of Tottenham Hotspur fan culture, and a very good man. He will be missed.
