Lucas Moura has had a heck of a start to the league at Tottenham Hotspur. With the absence of Son Heung-Min, he has stepped straight into the Spurs starting lineup and has been a revelation, scoring three goals in Tottenham’s first three matches and looking like a real threat every time he touches the ball.
Now, he’s earned a major accolade, winning the EA SPORTS Player of the Month for the Premier League in August!

Lucas beat out a talented field for the award, including Virgil Van Dijk, Sadio Mane, Neil Ethridge, Marcos Alonso, Benjamin Mendy, and Roberto Pereyra. Lucas said he understands what winning award like this means in an article on the Premier League’s website.
“It is difficult to explain what I am feeling. I am so happy because I know it is not easy to win this trophy. I waited a lot for this moment and I need to enjoy and to keep working because I believe I have much more that will come.”
Lucas becomes the first Tottenham player to win a Player of the Month award since December 2017 when Harry Kane took home the trophy, and the first Spurs player not named Harry Kane, Dele Alli, or Son Heung-Min to win since Jan Vertonghen in March of 2013. He’s only the fourth Brazilian to ever win the award after Juninho, Edu, and David Luiz.
