More transfer news of the kind that doesn’t include Tottenham Hotspur signing a central midfielder and hence may not interest you! Spurs announced via social media that 22-year old defender Connor Ogilvie has extended his six month loan at Gillingham to the end of the season.

This will be the second straight full season that Ogilvie has spent with the Gills on loan. He spent the first part of the season in and out of the side, but has suddenly become Gillingham’s starting left back for the last seven games, notching two assists in all competitions.

I don’t think there’s any chance that Ogilvie has a future at Spurs, but he seems to be settling in well in League One. At 22, I can see a scenario where he could end up developing into a pretty good Championship level defender, but I’d guess that he eventually either gets sold or moves on from Spurs this summer.

Still, he seems to have been having a good season thus far, and that’s great news for him.
