Victor Wanyama won’t be leaving Tottenham in January, according to his agent

Linked with a move to Roma, the oft-injured Kenyan midfielder looks to be staying put for now.

Crystal Palace v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League

There are a bunch of players linked away from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window that are either on the fringes of the team or have been injured for an extended period of time. One of those names is Victor Wanyama, who has been injured for the majority of this season, and has been linked with a move away from the club.

However, if Wanyama’s agent has anything to say about it, the Kenyan captain will be sticking around until at least this summer. Speaking to the Italian media about a potential move to Roma this month, Ivan Modia Yanez said that his client will not be leaving Spurs in January, but left the door open for a summer transfer.

“There is no chance that Victor will leave Tottenham in January. You will see, I have not had any contact with [Roma Director of Football] Monchi.”

Wanyama has played only 358 minutes of football this season in all competitions as he deals with a knee injury that has been bothering him since last season. It’s to the point now where Spurs probably can’t count on him to be anything close to a regular contributor, so it’s plausible that they might want to move him on as soon as he’s healthy. I’m not sure what club would be seriously interested in him while he’s still recovering from injury, however, and his agent probably knows that too.
