We interrupt your Thanksgiving to give you an update on Mauricio Pochettino. The former Tottenham Hotspur manager has stayed quiet since his firing from the club just over a week ago, but has now broken his silence on the matter of his dismissal. Speaking in a statement released by the League Manager’s Association, Pochettino was polite and cordial in his first public comments since his dismissal.
"I gave the best of me to accomplish the objectives I was asked for in our first meeting. There were equally tough challenges as exciting success,” Pochettino statement via @LMA_Managers #thfc pic.twitter.com/NG6sby39Ln

So it’s not much more than I expected. The only thing you can potentially raise an eyebrow at is the sentence “There were equally tough challenges as exciting success.” Which is both 100% uncontroversial, and also makes you want to wildly speculate on exactly what he’s referring to. We have some pretty good ideas on what he means!
It’s nice that Pochettino didn’t burn his bridges behind him, not that we’d expect him to do so. Honestly, if/when Mourinho doesn’t work out and if/when ENIC decides to sell the club, I can see a situation where Pochettino could eventually return to Tottenham Hotspur. For now, it’s clear he has opportunities in front of him. I expect that he’ll return to management by this summer at the latest, and likely with a very good club like PSG, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, or (god forbid) Manchester United.
