Son, Kane in Spurs’ squad for Red Star Champions League match

Spurs need a boost after another disappointing draw on Sunday.

There’s no rest for the weary Tottenham Hotspur squad as they are currently on a plane to Serbia ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Red Star Belgrade. However, there is some good news — both Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane have traveled with the squad and are expected to participate.

Spurs posted their usual “players walking towards the plane” video that they post ahead of the flight, and both Son and Kane are seen walking on the tarmac.

The team has rallied around Son after his anguished reaction to the injury to Andre Gomes during Sunday’s draw at Everton, and it’s good that he’s feeling good enough to travel. Champions League is also potentially the only club football he’ll be playing for the next three weeks or so, assuming that the Premier League doesn’t overturn the club’s ban of his red card and subsequent three match ban.

Dan Kilpatrick, writing in the Standard, also notes that Danny Rose has been included in the squad, his first return to Serbia after he was racially abused by Serbian football fans while Rose was playing with the England U21s in 2012.

It’s difficult to tell from the video but it sure looks like Troy Parrott is also part of Spurs’ traveling squad, as is Oliver Skipp. There’s a nice moment where Paulo Gazzaniga and Juan Foyth share a gourd of mate, too. No sign of Erik Lamela though, he said while posting infinite sad-face-emojis.
