My OPINION piece on Tuesday sparked outrage in the comments. It was rank and wild speculation, not analysis, like I haven’t been reading every Alasdair Gold transcription of a Pochettino press conference and trawling ITK on Spurs Community from grown men with ridiculous names. I apparently left out the part where Poche took over recruitment after 2015 even though the premise of the piece was that Pochettino was exerting too much control on transfers. Worst, I had committed the sin of clickbait in expressing disappointment that Poche was burned by bad scouting and analysis leading to nothing rather than good scouting and analysis.
Unrelatedly, I asked our beat journalists why Janssen was banished beyond even N’Koudou, in a way that seemed unfair from Poche. In return, I got something even better:
I don’t think Janssen was a troublemaker at all. My impression is that Poch just doesn’t think he is good enough & possibly professional enough. Same true of GKN, which is perhaps why MP is so particularly about incomings now.

There. See. Poche got burned on Janssen and GKN among others, and that’s why he won’t let Levy sign people. And I was right.
