Yesterday, we reported that Borussia Dortmund lead scorer Marco Reus was set to miss out on Wednesday’s Champions League clash at Wembley Stadium against Tottenham Hotspur. Today, the news got worse for BVB (but better, if you’re a Spurs fan) — Dortmund will be without four players, adding second leading scorer Paco Alcacer, Julian Weigl, and Lukasz Piszczek to their injury list.
#thfc Good news for Spurs, as Dortmund quartet Marco Reus (thigh), Julian Weigl (illness), Paco Alcacer (shoulder) & Lukasz Piszczek (foot) all miss the trip to London. Gotze likelt to play up front.

That’s a HUGE boost for Spurs, who are themselves still missing Harry Kane, Dele Alli, and Ben Davies. It’s particularly concerning for Dortmund on the defensive end — our friends at Fear the Wall seem nervous as hell, predicting Marcel Schmelzer and Achraf Hakimi at the fullback positions. Weigl had been starting in the back line for a while, and nobody’s quite sure who will start there tomorrow.
But the cupboard’s not exactly bare for Dortmund offensively. Gotze has scored two goals in Dortmund’s last three games, and they also still have Christian Pulisic and Jadon Sancho for offensive firepower. Even so, it’s not hard to look at this news and be just a tad more optimistic that Spurs can get a positive result at Wembley tomorrow.
As for Spurs, Kane and Alli are both confirmed out, as is Ben Davies. Worryingly, Danny Rose is also a doubt for tomorrow, which means we could see Jan Vertonghen or Serge Aurier deployed out of position as a left back against Jadon Sancho.
#thfc Rose to have fitness test on gashed shin ahead of Dortmund. Alli, Kane, Davies out. Dier & Lamela fine.
