So much of the focus for Tottenham Hotspur in the transfer window has been who the club are planning on purchasing and not so much who is leaving the club. With Spurs itching to buy Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon, there’s good reason why this has been the focus. Christian Eriksen’s saga with Real Madrid has also been a hot topic, but how about other players? Surely Spurs have players that other clubs are interested in, right?
HLN, the outlet that Kristof Terreur writes for, has a summary article of some transfer news today. Included in their wrap-up is the possibility of Vincent Janssen moving to RSC Anderlecht in a bid to resurrect his career.
Mohammadi is transfervrij. Ook Gent zou interesse tonen. (MJR)
The summary is what one would expect: Anderlecht need depth in their lineup and picking up Janssen on the cheap, who is just 25 years old, is good business. He’s looking for a way to get his career back on track as he enters the prime years of his career and it certainly isn’t going to happen in north London.
Anderlecht didn’t have too much of an issue up top as Ivan Santini and Landry Dimata combined for 27 goals, but they were both banged up at the end of the year to the point that the Belgian side had to start former Crystal Palace and Everton attacker Yannick Bolasie at the top of their formation. Bringing in a player like Janssen will mean competition at the position and extra depth.
HLN are a solid source of information when it comes to Belgian football, and while Terreur hasn’t commented on this directly, this is coming directly from their editor. There hasn’t been any fee discussed it seems, but given Spurs just want to be rid of his wages and make some money back on the fee they paid AZ Alkmaar, I can’t imagine it being anything more than a few million. We’ll pay attention to this one as it’s clear Vinny’s days in Tottenham are dwindling rapidly.
