Women’s football is in the news lately so about a quick update on Tottenham Hotspur Women? The club announced today that it has scheduled a “friendly” match against Arsenal at Meadow Park, the Gunners’ home ground, on August 25.
We will play @ArsenalWFC in a pre-season friendly on Sunday 25 August, kick-off 2pm at Meadow Park.

It’s not the first time that Spurs have played Arsenal in the women’s game — they got spanked 10-0 in the FA Cup in 2017 — but it’s the first time that they’ll face each other as members of the same league. Tottenham promoted to the WSL, England’s top flight, for the first time in their history last season. Arsenal... won the WSL last year. So you can imagine that there’s still going to be a pretty significant gap between the two sides.
It’s a friendly, so this is probably more a way for Spurs Women to get a sense for the level of competition they’re going to be facing every match next season. It’s going to be tough. We haven’t heard much yet about any additions or departures from the club yet, but I expect there will be plenty as Spurs will need to level up significantly if they want to stay in the top flight.
Also, note the new twitter handle — say goodbye to @thlfcofficial and hello to @SpursWomen!
