You wanted another update on Tanguy Ndombele? Here’s one, courtesy of Dan Kilpatrick in the Evening Standard. The news broke yesterday that Tottenham Hotspur and Lyon had hammered out an agreement for a club record transfer fee for the French international midfielder — £55m plus £9-10m in performance based add-ons — but personal terms hadn’t yet been finalized between Tottenham and the player.
According to the Standard, and despite a lot of public hemming and hawing from Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas, those terms are being negotiated now, and the club expects an agreement will be in place “within 48 hours.” That would then mean a flight from Morocco, where Tanguy is currently on vacation, to London for a physical.
The deal is expected to be five years in length, and while his weekly salary hasn’t been leaked (understandable since they’re still working out terms) Ndombele is expected to become one of the club’s top wage earners. Harry Kane currently is on top of the heap with a suggested salary of about £210k/week. I doubt he’ll be making more than Kane, but he should expect a nice bump up from the €19k/week he’s currently making at Lyon.
Everyone continue to hold still, but get a significant other or friend to ready up some celebration .gifs for you. This could be announced yet this week.
