Last season was a bit of a lost season fro Eric Dier. He started poorly, then got appendicitis, and never really got on track. It was his worst season since moving to defensive midfield for Spurs.
Hopes that he would get back on track took a blow this morning when the Club announced he would miss the Asian tour to Singapore and Shanghai with an undisclosed ailment:
Eric Dier has undergone a medical procedure to correct an issue detected during medical assessments on the first day of pre-season training.
Following the successful procedure Eric will now undertake a short period of rehabilitation. He will therefore not travel on the Club’s pre-season tour to Singapore and Shanghai.
According to Alasdair Gold, Dier is still expected to be healthy to start the season.
Despite missing the upcoming pre-season tour to Asia, Spurs are expecting Eric Dier to be fit for the start of the season next month following his successful procedure and now short spell of rehabilitation.

It’s an unfortunate blow for Dier and the club. Hopefully, whatever the mystery issue was, is not recurring and he can get back to being healthy. Dier has been rumored as a player who could potentially leave during this transfer window, but this news would make a transfer less likely. Hopefully Dier can get healthy and regain his solid defensive midfielder form that he demonstrated for Tottenham the past few seasons.
