The futures of Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld at Tottenham Hotspur are not yet settled, but according to the Evening Standard both are expected to fully participate in Spurs’ upcoming summer tour to Asia.
Alderweireld’s status is possibly more up in the air, but only just. Toby has been strongly linked with a transfer to Roma that is below his release clause of £25m, and reports out of Italy have suggested he could be used as a makeweight for the purchase of Roma attacking midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo. Eriksen has told reporters already that he’s open to a “new challenge” and has been the subject of interest from Real Madrid, but as of yet no bids have come in for him. Interestingly, the Standard doesn’t mention Kieran Trippier, who is also strongly linked with a move away from Spurs this summer. He is also expected to be on the tour.
Spurs are leaving on Wednesday for their preseason tour to Asia, where they will participate in the International Champions Cup. Their first stop is in Singapore where they will play Juventus at the National Stadium on Sunday, July 21.
For the first time in several years, Spurs are expected to name a touring squad that includes most of their first team stars, since there has not been a major international tournament that required players like Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris, and Dele Alli to delay their return to Spurs for preseason. Serge Aurier will not be there as he only recently finished his stint with Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations, and Eric Dier will also stay in London after having surgery for an undisclosed injury.
Spurs are expected to release their touring squad within the next day or so.
