We’re officially at DEFCON 1.
Tanguy Ndombele, who has been a target for Tottenham Hotspur dating back to last summer, looks like he’s about to don the Lilywhite sooner rather than later. According to Bilel Ghazi of L’Equipe, the French midfielder has made the flight to London ahead of a medical set for Tuesday at Hotspur Way.

Ghazi has been following this transfer, along with Hugo Delom, at L’Equipe. He is also the reporter who stated early Monday morning that the deal could be closed within 48 hours as all signs pointed to Spurs and Ndombele being very close on a contract. The finer points, such as bonuses, needed to be ironed out before Ndombele would put pen to paper.
As we’ve all come to learn, medicals can take up to an entire day and there’s also the marketing element that has to be taken care of afterward. It is possible we get an announcement late Tuesday if all goes well and there’s no hang ups. Reports of a very late push by Manchester United appear to be as bat country as we thought they were because they’re focused on Ben Yedder and Sean Longstaff while also working on finding a home for wantaway striker Romelu Lukaku,
We’re all tired of this streak. It’s been 517 days since Spurs have signed a player, but this would be one hell of a signing to break that streak. There’s not much else to say other than GET IT DONE LEVY!
Update #1 (6:20 am ET): It’s now being reported by David Hytner in the Guardian!
