After what was by all accounts a successful trip to Asia for the International Champions Cup, Tottenham Hotspur’s next preseason match will take them to Munich for the biennial Audi Cup. Spurs will play Real Madrid in the Allianz Arena (home of Bayern Munich) in the first of two games on back to back days, which seems, uh, a suboptimal use of their time if you ask me, but whatever.
Real Madrid is a matchup, even in preseason, which is FULL of #narrative, considering Christian Eriksen is agitating for a move there, as long as they show the slightest bit of interest. The last time Spurs played in the Audi Cup in 2015, they also played Real Madrid in the first match — they lost 2-0. You might remember that because that was the match in which Dele Alli did this to Luka Modric:
However, there’s a problem — there’s no legal way to watch this match in the United States. It doesn’t appear as though anyone in USA has broadcast or streaming rights for the Audi Cup this year, which is a bit weird considering it’s a preseason match between two really good European teams.
UPDATE: You apparently have two options for streaming this match. First, it is apparently on the schedule on ESPN+, ESPN’s premium streaming service. It’s $5/mo., $40/year, and is really a great deal for football fans. The other option is that the match will be streamed, presumably for free, on Real Madrid TV. It is not listed on their schedule (yet) but there was a news item saying they will be streaming the match.
Spurs will play again on Wednesday against either Bayern Munich or Fenerbahce, depending on the results of tomorrow’s matches. Time is either noon or 2:30 pm ET.
A reminder that Cartilage Free Captain and SB Nation does not condone the use of illegal streams. Please do not post links to illegal streams in the comments or you will be banned.
