FIFA has announced the nominees for its annual The Best awards, awarding — you guessed it — the best players and coaches of the year. Tottenham Hotspur, for the third year in a row, will be represented in the men’s football categories, as both Harry Kane and Mauricio Pochettino have been nominated in the player and coach categories, respectively.

Both Kane and Pochettino are being rewarded for reaching the Champions League final last month, as well as enjoying another top four finish in the Premier League. Kane is also being celebrated for the 17 goals he scored in 28 Premier League matches in the 2018-19 season.

Kane has made the ten person shortlist for the second year in a row after winning the Golden Boot with England at the 2018 World Cup, and additionally made a longer shortlist in 2017. Pochettino, meanwhile, was on the 2017 shortlist but missed out on a nomination in 2018.

The shortlists were decided by a FIFA-assembled panel of former players, and the three finalists in each category will be decided by national team captains, coaches, select media members, and fans who are members of the FIFA.com Club. Voting is open until August 18, and further details can be found here.

The three finalists in all categories will be announced at a later date, and the ceremony will be on September 23 in Milan.
