Finally, Lo Celso! Tottenham Hotspur and Real Betis Balompie reached an agreement for the transfer of Giovani Lo Celso to Spurs today, and no, the thrill hasn’t quite worn off yet.
The first question fans usually ask about a transfer window is “Have Spurs signed anyone yet?” But the SECOND question they usually ask is “What number is he going to wear?” And we have an answer for that, too.
Tottenham revealed that the Argentine playmaker will wear shirt #18. And that’s bad news for Fernando Llorente, because that was HIS old shirt number. It could mean that Spurs are not going to re-sign him to a new short term contract like some had suggested, or it might just mean that Nando will sign but have a different number. We still dont’ know.
The #18 shirt has been used a lot in Spurs’ history, and has been worn by player such as Harry Kane (2014-15), Frazier Campbell, Jermain Defoe, Ruel Fox, Steffen Iversen, and Jurgen Klinsmann, among others. One hopes that Lo Celso can live up to at least the lofty standards set by Fraizer Campbell.
Go forth and order your #18 Lo Celso Tottenham kits with full confidence!
