Hi, all!
I have a random crime drama show (or dramedy) on in the background, which is perfect to tune out while I write the Hoddle.
Ramble of the Day
It’s 8:58p, and I figured I’d start a free write. I truly thought it was later — maybe around 9:30p or something like that. I guess I had dinner in a timely fashion today, but I don’t think that was true. That reminds me of a weird little story from seventh grade.
My parents are from India, and at least where they’re from, they eat dinner anywhere from 7:30p to 9p. (My mom told me they’d eat dinner earlier in the winters, later in the summers, and that people in India nowadays don’t mind eating even later.) Growing up, we always shot for that 7:30p to 8p range, and I naturally never questioned it. For whatever reason, I ended up having a conversation with a classmate in my scientific research class in seventh grade, and she told me that she ate dinner at 6p or 6:30p, which I thought was preposterous. I actually forced a minor argument before class began, but I did find out that I eat later than most.
I never did get around to eating dinner earlier than that. I can’t really muster up the desire, and giving myself/others the extra hour to cook and/or arrange food is quite nice.
It’s funny — I hadn’t planned on writing a ramble about food. In fact, I have a decent enough ramble topic lined up about food, but avoided it because I did a tiny ramble about food yesterday. Is this still more interesting than the ramble about the two pens sitting next to me that I jokingly proposed? Possibly.
Truly, I’m rambling like this because I don’t know how to gauge the mood in Tottenham land. You might be able to tell, but I try to tailor things (in a way) based on the mood of the group, and I’m not sure how much in the dumps we still are. I have one or two decent ramble topics that I could use right away, but I want to save them for good days, you know? It’s like when you want to save a shirt or a pair of pants for the good day of the week, whatever that means in your context.
It’s 9:34p, and that crime show that was on has officially ended. I successfully tuned it out, but I wasn’t really trying. I’m relatively easily distracted by the tv, but I really didn’t bother checking the screen. I’d say it says a lot about the show, because I wasn’t laser-focused on Hoddle, either! I did think of another ramble topic, though, so at least there’s that.
tl;dr: Accidental food ramble turns into a conversation about rambles.
