Get ready to party with Parrott!

I don’t have to guess that most of you reading this are already on the Troy Parrott hype train with me, but in case you are still withholding judgement, you may get your first chance to see Party Parrott in action later this month. According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur will hand the 17-year old Irish striker his first team debut in the upcoming Carabao Cup match at Colchester on September 24.

This article claims to have an inside source within the club. They may or may not, but it’s certainly a plausible scenario. Colchester are a League 2 side and even though it’s an away match (and hence a potential trap game) this does seem like a great opportunity to throw Parrott into the cage and see what he can do. Who knows, a solid performance here may lead to further opportunities down the road, and perhaps even a spot on the bench now and again.

Honestly, I haven’t seen this much buzz around a Spurs youth player since Marcus Edwards (which was 100% appropriate at the time, thank you very much). I’ve only ever seen highlights, so it’d be cool to see him play in an actual competitive match against adults. We won’t know for sure until closer to the match, but wouldn’t it be neat if Parrott scores a cracker against the U’s?

No, the puns aren’t getting old. Can’t stop, won’t stop.
