The transfer news just keeps churning along this morning. The latest involves Spurs academy graduate and fullback Kyle Walker-Peters — Sky Sports now understands that Southampton are “confident” of landing KWP on loan, with an announcement expected sometime today.
Kyle apparently had his choice between heading to Crystal Palace under Roy Hodgson or Southampton under Ralph Hassenhuttl, and if Sky is to be believed he’s chosen Hassenhuttl. It’s an interesting choice and a good one — Hassenhuttl has Southampton flying in 2020, and while he’ll have to compete with Cedric Soares for minutes, Soares is currently injured until mid February, which might give him a foothold for minutes.
It’s a shame that KWP never really got a fair shake at Spurs, but that’s football. He failed to impress under two managers the past few years and while you can argue that he should’ve been loaned out years ago it’s clear that he’s simply not favored at Spurs.
It’s not confirmed yet, but it sure looks like that’s the way things are heading at present. We’ll update this article if we get any more updates.
