Is Celtic buying Victor Wanyama on transfer deadline day? Probably not.

Vic needs a home and used to play for Celtic, but it doesn’t look likely on deadline day.

Sky Sports’ transfer tracker giveth, and it taketh away. I woke up this morning to various rumors on my feed suggesting that Celtic might be giving Tottenham Hotspur a lifeline to take midfielder Victor Wanyama on this January transfer window deadline day.

It makes a certain sort of sense. Wanyama used to play for Celtic and is apparently still well regarded there. In addition, their captain, Scott Brown, is 34 now and probably doesn’t have much left in the tank, and they’re probably going to flip Olivier Ntcham this summer for a significant amount of money, leaving some holes in the midfield that will need filling.

But if you actually click on the link in that tweet it takes you to Sky’s transfer tracker, an updating list of the biggest rumors in club football. Scroll down a little bit and the first mention you see of either Victor Wanyama or Celtic is this:

Welp. Someone please take our aging, broken Kenyan midfielder, please!
